Our good friend Kurtis Docken, who used to work with the California CPA Education Foundation, recently joined a new company, CPE Link, a new provider of Web based education for CPAs.
I have known Kurtis since 1994, and he is one of the reasons I began teaching with the Foundation. He took a chance on a complete nobody back in 1995 by letting me teach my very first 8 hour CPE course: How to Build A Successful Practice with Total Quality Service.
After that he let me expand into Value Pricing, Economics, Tax Reform, and many other topics that were on the edge. Dan, Paul O’Byrne, and I have been fortunate to work with Kurtis, consider him a dear friend, and are very excited about his new venture. VeraSage hopes to be able to offer innovative programs through CPE Link in the future.
In that spirit, here is the Press Release Kurtis sent us yesterday announcing his new company:

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CPE Link: New Provider of Web-Based Training for CPAs
Los Gatos, California—June 30, 2008
CPE Link is a new provider of web-based continuing professional education (CPE) for accounting professionals, firms, and associations. CPE Link is dedicated to helping accounting professionals meet their mandatory CPE requirements, keep up to date with new compliance requirements, legislation, and regulations, and do it with a reasonable investment of their time and money.
Practitioners can choose from approximately ten live webcasts scheduled per month plus online self-study courses and on-demand webcasts available anytime for the professional up against license renewal deadlines. Practitioners can save up to 20% on webcasts with the Season Pass. Groups can save when three or more participants view a live webcast together. This also increases the value of learning when the information can be immediately discussed and applied to the firm. Custom training is available for accounting firms or international groups who can choose the topic, the instructor and the date. Custom training sessions can also be webcast to the firm’s other office locations.
CPE Link instructors are accounting and tax professionals—all experts in their fields with many years of practical experience to share. Some are practicing CPAs or attorneys; some are small business owners or consultants.
CPE Link also partners with local, state, and national accounting organizations to help them deliver web-based CPE programs to their members—quickly and without a prohibitive financial investment.
All CPE Link webcasts and online self-study programs are developed to comply with the Statement on Standards for Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Programs jointly issued by NASBA and the AICPA so that all programs can be accepted for CPE credit in all states.
