Time’s running out on the billable hour in Australia

An article in the July 29-30, 2006 “The Weekend Australian Financial Review” cites Andrew Robertson and how the Chartered Accounting firm Easdown & Partners trashed timesheets on July 1, 2005, after VeraSage convinced the firm it was the right thing to do. The article then goes on to discuss how the billable hour is harming the legal profession and how firms are going to have to change their pricing methods. It also quotes state Chief Justice Jim Spigelman and how he called for an end to the “tyranny of the billable hour” in 2004. Prepare the coffin, and let’s bury this idea once and for all. The VeraSage Team would be happy to serve as pallbearers. R.I.P.
